The downside of extensive research
April 22, 2006 on 3:06 am | In General, php |So, I now had this cool toy the Ipod nano, so I downloaded the complete series of pro-php podcasts. Within this week, I have attained new insights into php and all its its ancilliary systems. I tuned into podcasts that talk about input filtering and escaping. I have loved the smarty Template engine uptill now. I will be truthful, I had not heard of the savant templating engine before today. For the first time I find myself doubting the usefulness of Smarty!
But, it was the discussions on three diffrent php frameworks that have caused maximum damage to my confidence. Erstfar, I was living with the idea that symfony was the best thing that could have happened to the php world, since php itself! Suddenly , Prado and the Zend framework, have started vying for the spot!
The way I see it, symfony follows the strict MVC directives. Prado sticks to what they call component based framework. Zend seems to be a mix of these two. The way Zend is going, I am sure it will take over the other two and a bit!
So, now I am confused. Just when I had got a hang of symfony too !
Well, I think I will go ahead with sumfony for the current project. I will try the other two for subsequest projects, so I can compare.
